Cabinet Comeback :

A Fresh ADU Revamp

For this custom millwork project, we designed and built elegant white oak cabinets and floating shelves for a couple’s ADU located in Frogtown, LA. The style was intentionally simplistic, focusing on clean lines and minimalistic design to create a timeless and uncluttered look. The natural grain of the white oak added warmth and character, tying the entire space together.

Throughout the project, we worked closely with both the architect and the contractor to ensure that every detail aligned with the couple’s vision. The floating shelves were designed to provide functional, open storage while maintaining a sense of openness and lightness.

This collaboration resulted in a perfectly crafted and personalized living space, where the natural wood elements brought harmony and balance to the overall design.

Materials used: Birch plywood in both 1/2” and 3/4” thickness and was laminated with white oak veneer.

Finish:
Polyurethane finish. (natural)

We began by coordinating with the contractor and architect to identify the stud locations, which was essential for securing the anchors for the floating shelves, alongside the fabrication of the cabinets and drawers.

Process to Product

Next, we used a 45-degree V-bit to create channels, enabling the shelf to fold into a "C" shape and slide onto a bracket bolted to the studs.

The result

Finally, we applied a clear polyurethane finish to protect the wood while preserving its natural color.
